Might be taking this board out to California this summer. Wondered how it would handle or even if it would work out in the ocean? Only used it to wakesurf on lakes. Thanks for any help!

Well, it depends...
on whether you really can surf waves or not,
on well you use the board,
on where you try to use it,
on what the surf is like where you use it,
on what you want to achieve (don't think you're going to master large waves with this wake board).

The fin is pretty small, so you'll basically be surfing like the ancient ones using Paipo (body) or Alaia (short) papaheā€˜e nalu (surf boards). Modern guys enjoy using modern variants or replicas. They are usually intermediate to skilled wave surfers looking for a new challenge. Most of the ones I've seen have been in smaller surf (1 to 2.5 ft, maybe 3 ft). So, don't take this wake board to overhead waves!

In proper persepctive, you can have fun, but it'll challenge you.

had a thought, tbrown.
You can buy an inexpensive used surfboard in CA pretty easily in San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara/Ventura, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco (maybe Humboldt, but not as frequently as these other big-time suring places). There are always cheap boards advertised on the internet in Craigslist dot com. Many times, students are selling cheap. Other times it's guys that just love to buy, trade, and sell. I've bought 3 used boards in 3 different cities using Craigslist. You can, too. And sometimes I see boards so cheap that you'll be able to not care what happens to it if you can't take it back home with you
