I reckon that semi-literate guy who wibbles on about spanking and paddles may be a contender for this title.....

whats all this talk about staying out for 5-7 hours makes you a good surfer.

Surfing is a demanding sport. If your surfing hard and going for everything thats comes there is no way you can last that long.

Sure if you surf small stuff or a reef then your gonna last longer. If your out in head high waves its absolutley knackering, i dont understand. Sure im no athelete but i usually average at least 2-3 sessions a week.

When i started i used to do three to four hours but now its more like two. If i have the day off i go for two sessions and usually sleep in between

cool, a pissing contest. i'd say most people on this site (and most surfers) are more bro than pro. you guys must surf in warm water to be able to stay out for that many hours, i'm jelous. the water is around 10 degrees or so in summer, so the longest i ever stay out is 2 hours (in summer) usually 1 1/2 in winter. oh and i'm from the southern hemisphere so we're just at the end of winter, and consequently the water is very very cold.

i can stay out for 2-3 hours here in the winter still thats with a 5mm wetsuit gloves boots and a hood, with out a hood i wouldnt last an hour, the water gets about 9C here in the winter 17C in the summer

Here in Florida when I was in high school I used to surf for about 8 hours whenever there were waves. Considering the paddle you have to do here when the waves are up and all the currents your upper body cardio get's pretty good to where you can paddle for 8 hours stright. yes i did have noodle arms every time I got out but It didn't stop me from surfing that long. Plus the water was usually about 70+ degrees. Now i'm in the military and haven't surfed but 3 times in a hole year. I'm fricken pissed cause this is the only thing that has ever stopped me from surfing. bah I hate my job.

70 degrees plus?...is that warm or cold? we use celcius here in the antipodes. the water where i surf is about 10 celcius (ie, a tad on the chilly side) being a weak scrawny girl with stick arms, i'm pretty stoaked to manage 2 hours (tops) of paddling. on the plus side my upper body strength has improved heaps since i started surfing, i can do boy sit-ups as opposed to woosy girl ones and even open jars without assistance from my male flatmates! fantastic.
