I like then, but the waves I surf aren't crowded at all most days. I'm sure that if the traffic increases I'll start to hate everyone that isn't just like me.

A bodyboard can get you deep, without even trying. And every wave is overhead.

Surfing takes a hell of a lot of time to get good at, so if you don't have the time to go a few times a week, as a beginner, then I'd say stick to body boarding.
Thank God most guys don't do this. They want to surf standing, they try it for a few years, don't put enough time into, get fed up with their lack of progress and quit. :-D

I read somewhere that a huge chunk of the world's surfing population are only in it for about 2 years, then they quit and are replaced by another beginner. So the all over number of surfers only grows a little a so many people quit.

as long as the bodyboarder knows the Ocean etiquette then I have no problem with them. as for the activity for ME? not for me, I'd rather surf.

Should have a look over here next April/May. Every year there's literally hundreds more in the water. Thankfully 90% of them don't seem to be able to hack the cold. Bring on the big freeze!!!

As for bodyboarders.....
Used to have loads of respect for them.... until I found out they have legs!!!

Seriously though, they kind of remind me of speed bumps!!
