hey if its ya first time surfin is it bad to start with a pointy tip on ya board first??

Yes, you mean a shortboard.... or a gun even if its long..... But to start out with that means you have less volume so you catch waves harder and when you do catch them you could have problems staying on the wave due to the fact you might sink.... I would first go to the shop and rent a longboard-softtop, and then go for a shortboard.
