Surfing Waves

Im new to surfing, just started on the weekend.

How often do you wax your board? not every time you use it surely?

Nothing wrong with how you posted. Many reasons for no answers and, frankly, no reply in about 5 hours is nothing to squawk impatiently about. I don't think we can be good fishing buddies, but I'll tell you what I do.

If I am surfing long periods (like all day), then I wax my board before I go out the next day. When I surf only an hour or two (and have applied wax), then I rough the wax up with a comb just before I go out the next time for a short day. But, if I'm going out for a long period after only an hour or two, then I wax the board.

Oh, two last important thoughts.
1) I put the wax on only minutes before going into the water
2) I put wax only on the top side

Im a member of a bodybiulding forum which is very busy 24/7. I can now see this isnt so I will be a bit more patiant lol

No I dont have any probs popping up! but alot of trouble staying up! Yes

sure thing bro. there are different types of wax for different temperatures of water. Warm water, cool water, cold water. for example

most surf waxes break temperature into some broad categories of cold, cool, warm, and tropical. there are a few special cases of "Frigid" and no temperature range at all.

So if your water is 20degrees celcius you would want a warm wax.

i mostly comb my board, it's got plenty of wax, add some wax when it looks like it needs it, better too much wax than not enough!
when it starts turning dark, scrape it off and add new wax.
usually bodybuilding a surfing don't go along since it makes you a bit stiff and you need to be flexible and fast, but hey, i guess you're not hoping to become a pro, that doesn't mean you can't go out and have a blast in the waves either. in the end, it doesn't matter how well you surf, what matters is to enjoy it and have an awesome time doing it .

Hi perusurf,
Im not a heavy weight bodybuilder, My weight stays between 14 & 15 stone, Im 6ft tall.
Ive got a large athletic build so Im still flexible.

And no Im not looking to be a pro, Just have fun. I love to be at the beach enviroment all summer, I dont know why Ive never tried it before.

I picked up my saterter board last night, a second hand 7,2 long board.
I will be stripping the old wax off today and re-applying new.

cool bro, just stick to it and don't quit, you'll be ripping before you know it, study the waves so you know where to position yourself when the sets come, and don't pussy out, just go for the waves, nothing is going to happen

My starter board, I thinks its an early 70's. Its a pop out board.
I paid £50 for board and leash

And looking at my Board! I think we can say, I have the "X FACTOR"
