The Idea:
The Crew is seven amateur surfers ranging from some who have surfed their whole lives to others who have surfed for just under a year. The Documentary will follow these seven people on an adventure down the pacific coast highway. The Crew will start in Del Norte and surf one surf spot in every county all the way down the state, ending in San Diego where they will enter a amatuer surf competition. They will be doing this all in an RV bought on cragslist for less than $2000 and on a very tight budget.
The Test:
The Crew will have to do the entire trip on a budget and will stay within a $500 per person limit.
The Crew will have to make it down the coast surfing every county and make it to a longboard surfing competition in San Diego on September 10th 2010.
The Crew will all live in a RV with each other. They will have to come together to get enough footage to make a feature length documentary as well as six, 30 minute, episodes.
Why?: Most surf videos made have been with professional surfers. This film will show that it doesn't take the best of the best to make a fun surf trip, and that anyone can cross off a "great road trip" from their bucket list on a low budget.
