favourite sunscreen/sunblock?

Postby twerked » Tue May 04, 2010 1:59 pm

i searched, didn't find anything. and i'm not even sure if this is the right forum, maybe general chat is more appropriate? anyways, what is your favourite sunscreen for the summer? i hung out on the beach yesterday and didn't have my usual spray can, just a tube of the regular stuff. i burned my back where i couldn't reach :( i prefer spf 15 and anything in a spray can. i just hate how fast it runs out. i'm also south korean, so i tan really easily. for long days on the beach, like marathon surf lesson days, i'll put desitin on my face. just curious as to what everyone else uses. and if anyone has any particular brands that seem to last longer in the water, spray stuff that doesn't seem to run out after a 2 days, and so on.

don't really have any preference for my body, usually any 30-50 spf sport/sweat resistant is good. spray stuff is kinda crook, i end up rubbing it in anyway so what's the point. i use vertra on my face. best part is that you can reapply in the water. I surf almost everyday at least 1.5 hours and 4-6 hours on the weekends and one little stick of vertra lasts a bit less than a month. Also, if you can't reach places on your back, i don't see any shame in asking your bud (or better yet, the nearest babe) to give you a hand. but they make back applicators for the homophobic.

Bullfrog is pretty good, but it's a thick formula. A tip I learned from a Youtube video was applying sunblock to the back of your hand to avoid those slippy hands and palms as you paddle out. I haven't figured out a way to apply sunblock to my shoulders, neck, and back using this method.

twerked,
I use Bullfrog 50 SPF. It stays on well in the water and offers good sun blocking. It can sting like hell in your eyes. I was "blinded" by it once and a friend found and led me to shore and truck.

^ I forgot about the burning sensation. That's what I hate about it lol. It's not the ouch, repeated-blink burn that you feel for a couple of seconds; it's a eye-tearing burn that lasts for a good 5-10 minutes. I'm pretty sure the animal they tested this formula on is blind.

hehe..yeah, if i'm at the beach with someone it's not hard to get someone to get my back. but most of the time i paddle out by myself, so i like having the spray stuff for those occasions.

is bullfrog the stuff with insect repellent in it? maybe that's the burn yall experience in the eyes?

I HATE SUNBLOCK. It's a necessary evil though. I live in hawaii and the sun here will destroy you if you let it. Im haole (white). I use a rashguard but I just lost mine so I had to but some sunblock on the other day. I have HIC brand 50spf and I use it every time on my faec. works good. Burns a little bit in the eyes though. My favorite ever is headhunter. lasts forever and if you get the OG one (brown in color) I think it lasts longer.
