Surf Trip to Big Sur

So a friend and I are going State-side to Big Sur, the most chilled out place on Earth. We both surf a little, but not that much. I've been surfing in Cornwall 3 or 4 times, and he's only gone once. So yeah, we're not too great, but it's still a lot of fun to do.

The thing is, neither of us own boards, and we're looking for help.

Is it better to rent a board there? Or should we buy 2nd hand, then sell them back after using them in an attempt to get our money back? We're both broke students, so we can't afford to buy boards properly, and neither of us surf full-time.

Any advice?

Cheers guys :)

Not sure where Big Sur is but I would google surfshops around there and check rental prices. Buying a board, board bag, leash, bubble wrap and then the extra charge the airlines get ya for. And if your lucky, your board may make it in one piece. Renting will work out cheaper if ya dont own a board. You will also have a board thats better for that area.
