papasurf wrote:Again, maybe I should've specified. What I meant... was the average wave size on the biggest day I ever paddled out was 10ft. I usually surf anywhere from hip to head high at best. I sure wish there were 10 ft waves on a regular basis where I am. I have no reason to lie, as I have better things to do than look cool on this forum like some. So kitesurfer big wave master, if you don't have anything positive to contribute, go start xxxxx with someone else. Or maybe you aren't capable of contributing because you're apparently not very bright, plus with all the time you spend on this forum, you obviously don't spend much time in the water.

I tried already, emailed 3 different shops, and haven't received a response from a single one yet.
Go figure.

isaluteyou wrote:^^^ ah japan all you had to say. My shaper does a lot of business there as boards are supposed to be pretty pricey. Check out http://www.sauritchsurfboards.com I know he ships boards out there. However by the sounds of it you are gonna be wanting a board asap for indo. The thing is is i imagine your trip to indo will be wanting a different board that what you would normally surf in japan. For your indo trip i would suggest a semi gun (pin tail) maybe 6'6. Difficult to judge as it really depends on what size and style of waves you will be getting. I mean a performance semi gun would translate okay to gutless big surf as well. But ideally i would opt for more width and thickness for those soft rollers.
Im just really guessing here throwing some idea's outwherever possible always chat to a shaper

Your an average surfer who has paddled out in 12-14ft and regulary surfs 10ft? Yet you are having trouble working out wave sizes and board choice? I'm sorry but all this just doesn't ring true.

Haha yeah and even more if you have already been out in 10 foot surf before you learned to surf. Boy this thread is 9 years old, you win the Frankenstein award for resurrecting it.donwand wrote:
if you're a good swimmer and you know how to get tossed....being out in ten foot waves isn't that scary

Not sure why this 'doesn't ring true'
I learned how in Ecuador 8 years ago...I was a beginner then..and haven't surfed since...but after 3 weeks I was out there in 10 foot waves or better...
who wants to learn to surf just to ride whitewash on a longboard?
