Surfing Waves

I have been accepted to UNC Wilmington, College of Charleston, and Flagler College. If you have any first hand experience with these areas please share what you know. I am interested in finding out who has the most consistent/ best waves/ year round surf?/ housing options...along with how fun the school is, the town, and how hot the chicks are haha

First things first. Forget surf around Charleston. Too small, too much of the time. You'll find surf near Flagler, but you'll often find yourself driving to Daytona and Cocoa Beach. Neither are immediate, but 1) FL surf improves when the numerous hurricanes come in and 2) FL surf is better than SC surf. You'll be driving to surf from UNC Wilmington. The surf that is close is more consistent than the surf closest to Flagler. The surf that you can drive to in short distance from UNC Wilmington is more varied than from Flagler. That would interest me.

Second things: The fishing and boating and all that kind of stuff is super at UNC Wilmington. Wilmington is a very neat place to spend a lot of time. Young people like it, too. Charleston is neat, too, but isn't as cool. Flagler just isn't fun or cool (too me) and is too close to boring and hot Jacksonville.

Third things: Flagler and Charleston only have regional acclaim. That will limit your job hunting effort after Uni. Employers in those regions will recongize the degree, but the majority of employers elsewhere in the US will have never heard of them. UNC Wilmington has wider acclaim and, in a few limited academic areas, actually has national recognition. There is another reason to consider UNC Wilmington compared to the other two. It is more than a liberal arts college. That means if you decide you want to try classes, let alone pursue a degree, in science or engineering, you can do that if you are at UNC. You can't do much if any of that at the liberal arts colleges. Put in less direct ways: UNC Wilmington offers a much larger universe than the other two. Something else to consider is if you decide to change Uni, especially if you become interested in pursuing science or engineering, you'll find you and your courses from UNC Wilmington will be more easily accepted by the numerous other UNC schools. Even though UNC Wilmington offers a larger universe, it is not so large that'll it make you crazy. There is also a lot of communication and shared resources between the UNC schools. If you enjoy arts and theatre or marine-related sciences, you'll be able to appreciate this. As a result, there are more experiences and more options available at UNC Wilmington than the at Flagler and Charleston. Flagler and Charleston cannot offer these kinds of things in the quantity that UNC can because they are not associated with networks as large as UNC.

Fourth things: I think you'll like the chicks better at UNC Wilmington than Charleston or Flagler(unless you are a stuck up rich kid. Figure you're not because you surf)

Parting notes: You're at a wonderful place in life. You have the freedom to exercise all kinds of freedoms. I think you'll find more interesting avenues at UNC Wilmington.

Basis for rendered opinions: I'm an old guy that has lived extensively in the Southeastern US and have family there still. My in-laws forefathers literally designed Charleston and I'm a product of the UNC system. I've spent a lot of time sailing, fishing, canoeing, camping, hiking, and bird watching on the southeastern coastline. I've also spent a lot of time living in many small towns in NY and NJ, many years in CA and HI, and lived in worked in Contental Europe. I also hold multiple college degrees and professional licenses and have taught a variety of Universities in NC, NY, CA, and Germany. But, you probably surf much better than I do.

Santa Barbara has smaller waves

Hidden gem is cal state Channel Islands....Ventura for north swell, LA county for south...live at the sanitarium.
