Searching for a surf documentary, which one is it??

Hello!

One of the best documentaries I've ever seen is a giant wave documentary.

I saw this many years ago and it is really amazing, but I can't remember it's name.

I recently watched Riding Giants
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0389326/
which I think may be a version of the documentary I watched many years ago. The documentary film Riding Giants was also awesome but I can't help but miss some scenes in the documentary I am searching.

I think it was Laird who in this documentary, I don't know the name of, was talking about
running on the sea floor with a stone to train also I remeber them specifically talking about
diving through caves to train the mind for the times when getting pulled down by giant waves
I even remember seing scenes of this diving in this documentary.

I really do believe these scenes added so much more to this amazing documentary than Riding Giants, which was also superb btw especially in 1080p and perfect sound with all the IMAX scenes in it in the end.

Anyways I would really really appreciate if anyone knew exactely which documentary I am talking about and could give me the name of it! :)

Happy surfing surfers, seems like a fun activity indeed!

I can't tell you that I'm 100% sure but it could be Stepping/Step Into Liquid.

Don't think it's that one. It is many years old...

Atleast some of the same surfers that are in Riding Giants are in the documentary I'm searching.
They surf at some giant wave location (like Maverick) in this also and they talk about how they made it into their comfort zone and how they had to search for new challenges!

The movie you're thinking of is Billabong Odyssey (2003)

I really hope you are correct and that the cave diving scenes like I explained are in this one. Will check it out, thanks!

Just to make sure it is what you're after...the movie is about a group of big wave surfers (Mike Parsons, Brad Gerlach, Ken Bradshaw, Maverick's crew, etc.) going around the world looking for the biggest waves...there is a seen towards the beginning where Brian Keaulana (I think) is rock running underwater and doing some cave swimming (the caves are more like underwater arches though) as part of lifeguard training...the movie ends with Mike Parsons nailing a monster wave at Waimea.

Hey tharrrrr, pretty sure that the film you are looking for is not Step into Liquid (although, that has got to be one of the best EVER!!!!!!!)
But as soon as you mentioned rock running only 2 films came to mind: Blue Crush (and it's not gonna be that one :P) and Billabong Odessey

HOpe to be helpful :D

Hey ya'll again.

It took me a while to download the film, but finally got it - billabong odyssey.

However, to my surprise it is not the film I was looking for... There is, from what I saw, no cave diving sequence and the main "character" who is guiding the audience is the Laird or someone very similar to him as in very american accent and well trained. Both running on seabed and the cave sequence is in this film. It might have been a documentary also. Damit I know that it is out there some where just can't remember the name.....

Well if no one knows, thanks anyways for the effort!

Be well.
