"so here I am 5 months in to living by the ocean, and the winter nearly over. started a new life, job etc thinking surf every day finally. alas wasn't to be... finish work 5 days a weel at 5ish, sometimes 6... too dark to surf. daylight saving my ass!

started taking the longboard out again in anything up to DOH waves the few days I do get out just to knock the precious wave count up. getting out a bit more now that the evenings are getting a bit longer. can't wait till the clocks go back! only a few head wrecking weeks left till I'm living the dream!

anyone got any advice on how to get through the the winters out here without going crazy?"

How about a mechanical surfboard to keep you happy?.....good for when ya can't get to the beach and it can be used in all sorts of public activities (eg. shows, schools, fund-raisers, sporting venues, churches, etc). One is ordered by Sanctuary Surfers in Adelaide for the summer.....so check it out if you are in the area.

Peace to ya,

The Pastor

I do dawn patrol in the winter. I take a two gallon container of warm water, deodorant, hair gel and a change of clothes to get ready for work. In the lineup around 5:30, out of the water around 6:45 and at work by 7:30. You'd be suprised how just catching 3 or 4 waves before work can make your day

great to be able to do that, unfortunately in ireland it's still dark at 7:30 in the winter. just beginning to get like that now. this year won't be so bad tho. well established where i work now so might get away with pulling a few sickies if the surf is pumping. failing that I'm going on part time for the winter.
