Surfing Waves

So, what do you guys think of these modified skateboards that simulate surfing?
For those of you who have tried one or more of any kind of these, I'd like to hear what you think!

Close to where I live, some guy is selling a 14 wheel flow board for 50 $ . I'm thinking since the breaks near me are flat a lot of the time, it'd be cool if I could practice(or even half-ass practice) my surfing anyway.

Nothing really simulates surfing - certainly not in any kind of way that could be considered practice!?

Where I used to live, there was a road that sloped gently downhill with smooth tarmac pavements, off this pavement, there were drives at regular intervals (every 20-40 feet) which sloped up from the kerb. This meant you could get a skateboard and start at the top, carving up and down each drive. This is the closest thing I've found to actually surfing a wave!!

This was pre mountainboard/ longboard skate etc!!

freebord is probably the closest simulator to snowboarding. if you are a snowboarder then go for a freebord. i've got one and it is exactly like it. flowboards do not simulate surfing or snowboarding very good. Carveboards and longboards are your best bet for surfing simulations. for snowboarding simulations definitely go freebord.

sinista, when I say simulate I mean: "The act of simulating something generally entails representing certain key characteristics or behaviors of a selected physical or abstract system." I obviously don't think it will be a perfect imitation of surfing, but for when it really is flat, I'm talking flat as a lake, to not miss practicing my turns and all !
And if with a skateboard you managed to do that pre-longboard, don't you think there's something that is a pretty good simulation now ?

I love my longboard. I ride it all the time to get places or just to ride and have fun. It's not the same as surfing, but if you like surfing, you should like longboarding. Carving down a hill or bombing it at 30mph is such an adrenaline rush that's unique to the sport of longboarding. Just commuting from place to place is fun and not too tiresome on a longboard because of how far the longboard rolls with a single push. I recommend getting a longboard even though it wont really suffice as surfing practice. It's still fun as hell.
