Is a 5/3 wetsuit be buoyant enough to stop you from sinking?

I can tell you from personal experiences that a winter wetsuit won't stop you from drowning if you get into difficulty. It will keep you afloat but won't necessarily keep your head out of the water.

I dont think I'd make it into a 5/3 & then to the water before I collapsed from exhaustion so yes it would save me.

well its not gonna stop you from drowning but it does add some layers of protection - id much rather get dragged across a reef wearing a wetsuit than not. Im also positive my wetsuit has saved me from a few scrapes and cuts in the past almost acting like a bit of body armour

That would be some accident!!
You mean something like you fall off and get held under, a passing dolphin happens to get caught in your zip cord, pulls you back to shore? That kind of thing?

I met flipper, since the series got cancelled, he hit the booze pretty hard and became very synical.
Now he's all like "Shurfersh? Pah! (belch) they're all fleshin' hopeless,

I was catshin' tubes when I was 2 monthsh old, yer all crap (hic),

let 'em drown I shay!"
It's tragic, but that's the price of fame

for some reason in my 5/3 with 5mm boots on i seem to have overly buoyant FEET so no..if i wipe out and end up on my back my feet want to stay up above the water way more then my head..i am often thankful for the next wave in the set for pushing me back up and helping to right me.

A: No. For example, recently an 18 month old child drowned when he fell head first into a partially filled bucket of cleaning water. Experts universally agree that no wetsuit or any sort would have prevented this drowning.
