With help from ANZAC, here is the latest addition to the DBBB quiver...

A custom Samurai Blade shaped by Paul Finch on the NSW Central coast - :claps:

6'6 x 19 1/2 x 2 3/8
Medium to low rails, single to double concave, rounded square.

It's a bit longer than my usual boards (I normally go for around 6'3 - and I'm 6' and 80kg). Some of waves around here jack up vertically from out of nowhere and I wanted a board to get into them that little bit earlier, but to have a proper amount of rocker front and back, and to keep some proper performance rails.

Haven't tried it out yet - as you can see from the pearly white lack of wax - but it gets its first dip tomorrow :D

Will report back on sunday after a weekend in the water.
:goingsurfing:

Very nice indeedy! I hope your not turning into an angry shortboarder though!

And it would have looked better in pink

Oh dear,
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...

...But fortunately not about the board, only my incompetence :bang:

Perfect surf on saturday morning, but was feeling a bit sickly (cold... man flu... bird flu... swine flu....) so didnt get my @rse in gear until the onshore wind was howling (and an honourable mention to Jimi who faffed around with his boat so long that we didnt set off until lunchtime).

Perfect surf on sunday morning, but a bit of a domestic situation meant I didnt get to the water until it all gone to crumbly mush.

So the new board update will have to wait until probably next weekend

FINALLY got out on the new board today :bang:

Had a bit of trouble catching waves, to be honest, but mostly because
a) the waves were fat or dumping (not sure how that works)
b) first time in 3mm wetsuit since last year
c) skinnier tail than the swallowtails Ive been riding all summer
d) unfit incompetence.

...But it paddles beautifully, duckdives easily, and when it does catch a wave is seriously manouvreable
That caught me out a couple of time leading to some embarassing wipeouts

So even though the session was a bit ordinary, all the signs for the board are good. Very pleased with it. :D
