I live in Virginia Beach and stoked to start surfing again now that water is warming up, but I've been lazy all winter. Just started running (ouch, hasn't been easy) and looking for ways to get in shape for surfing. Anyone have a workout routine that you do during off season to keep fit for surfing?

Woo VaB.
Running, swimming, tricep extensions, and anything that exercises your core and your upper body, mainly deltoids, biceps, and triceps.
Good luck with it. Get any of that swell last weekend?

Ancient Chinese surf secret.......skate the half pipe or a pool!! All the same muscles and balance, cardio and core.....Pads.Helmet.Safe.
....but you have to mix in a couple swims a week to keep on the paddle....swim w/o legs.

...If you want to be Chuck Norris and borrow your mom's dusty old Totalgym, you can do excercises that perfectly replicate the process of paddling

It depends on how much time you want to spend working out. If you are pressed for time and really do not enjoy working out, I would recommend some sort of cardio a couple times a week ( run, swim, basketball etc) and then push ups and shoulder exercises. Really quick you can grab some light dumbells and do front shoulder raises, lateral raises and then reverse flies and be done really quickly ( 3 sets of 10 for each exercise followed by push ups and you are done in 15 minutes)
Hope that helps
