Will Westward Ho! Dissapoint?

Am in the middle of my plan to re-locate to the west coast by summer 2010. I had previously locked myself into only considering living in Braunton or very nearby. I will be working from home with bi-weekly trips to the office back in Poole. Gill intends to transfer to A&E in Barnstaple from A&E in Poole. So half an hour away from Barnstaple is the max for Gill (try driving home after a 12 hour night shift and you'll see why).

Property prices around Braunton seem to be a lot higher than Westward Ho! So I was wondering if I should consider there? Would the surf be similar to Saunton?

Advice and suggestions please. Especially if you have lived in either area for more than 2 weeks.

Cheers

Westward Ho! is a very lame wave :?
It doesnt seem to get the swell like saunton and ends up with a crumbly mush.
If you lived there though, it would be surfable enough to make it worthwhile I reckon,

And, hey, how bad can it be? Its got an exclamation mark in its name :D

I took a little drive around the area for that exact reason last year, go there at different times of year/day etc to see what you think of the place.

For me it was a resounding no, I wouldnt want to live there even if it is fairly cheap to live quite close to the beach. But its quite a personal choice and I will probably take another look at some point - again go at different time of the year/day to see if it is somewhere you would want to live, seems like you would still need to drive to get a decent break anyways.

If im honest i wouldn't move there! :spew: Westward ho! is abit dire! I have spent alot of summers down that way and i think the higher prices in Braunton are worth it for the surf, atmosphere and the location! It is a lovely area, many a happy holiday spent! :D
