Flippin' toxic wildlife.

Damn the australian wildlife

Today I got my first ever bluey sting :(
The water was absolutely full of them. I spent the whole session in a state of paranoia trying to avoid them, and then when I finally caught a wave in to get out, I got washed through a carpet-like layer of them :!:

Ouch ouch and more ouch.

Still, its quite interesting to watch the weird and fascinating things going on around the sting. It went red, then purple, then blotchy, and is now looking kinda ruffled. I wonder whats next...? :?

Ah, I see... next, about a litre of liquid comes out from the ruffled skin

Okay, that was quite surprising. Is it finished now?

I hope not

It's a cold, wet, surfless Saturday over the ditch, and I'm a bit bored. Your jellyfish wound is way more interesting than TV.

Update - 3.30pm - approx 4.5 hours since sting event...

Pain still quite intense.
Fluid still leaking out of the sting like a small garden water feature.
Girlfriend sympathy minimal.

Eeeeewwww

You'll be fine in a couple of weeks

I just went fishing and got two sandfly bites......on the same hand. But they just get a bit itchy. I did get bitten right on the ring once though, when I was putting my wettie on, over on the West Coast, and that really wasn't pleasant, although there wasn't lots of fluid or anything gross like that, just a bit hard to scratch (in public).

Still here, so it wasnt fatal. Although there was a period of intense muscle spasming pain between my left forearm and about where my heart is which was a bit worrying

The fluid leak decreased to a steady drip and then finally stopped overnight - now Im just left with a small red dot. Sadly, no photos - the progression from purple to red to ruffled to leaking was all quite quick (an hour) so by the time I was near a camera it just looked wet and not very dramatic.

Im just off for a surf again at the same spot, so I'll take a camera today - Im bound to find some more wildlife
