Boards Dead But I'm Alive (just)

Postby tree4 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 3:47 pm

Went down to boscombe after lunch and got mullered. Don't remeber much apart from banging my head on the bottom, coming up and getting hit by a second then pulling my leash toward me to see my board flapping up and down. Oh yeah suspected broken knuckle as well.

Result being my Cortez mini-mal is snapped in two.

Just as Chris b*ggers off snowboarding as well!! I'll have to wait a week before I can even talk to him about the next Harmergeddon master piece.

Yes, did a damn fine job on the wax yesterday, and consider my self to be truly bi-waxual now after mastering the base coat and top coat technique.

oh fiddlesticks ,

that does rather blow a boat load.

glad you lived to tell the tale.

hmm, onwards and upwards as they say.
start dreaming of a new board and make it yours asap.

took me 25 minutes to get out back and to be honest, I knew it was too big so i was making my way in when i got jumped. So total waves ridden = a big fat zero. I know it says 3ft on the sorted shop but i'm sure the one that got me was at least 5ft.

Glad your alright, mate.

My brother has snapped two boards out in southern Califonia. We don't get board-snapping surf often here on the Gulf Coast, although even waist high waves can give a nice trip through the wash, as I found out last week. I stay out and watch the kids who havn't figured out they aren't immortal yet on the rare really big days.

The silver lining is, a new board.

Bummer!! You're (apart from the knuckles) OK though, which is the main thing!

You're more than welcome to borrow my 7'4 if you want, its a bit more floaty than the 7ft that you tried?

Only thing is.............its also pink :D

I'm married, have 2 sons and a beard. So I can cope with a pink board. I said I was bi-waxual not bi-sexual.

If your serious about the loan (till Chris makes me one) then I'd love it. PM please.

RESULT!!! Just phoned my insurance company and they have agreed to send a cheque (less my £50 excess).

Just for information:
I'm with Legal and General indirectly through my mortgage providers (Britannia Building Society) on their MultiGuard policy (which combines Building rebuild costs and contents insurance).

One happy bunny :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Nice proper break. Better to brake the board that way then how I watched one of my buddies do it. Board went air born then the middle of the board landed square on his head and snapped the board in two. Funniest thing I have ever seen.
Glad you are ok though.

Really?
Im guessing you didnt tell them you broke a surfboard whilst surfing? I thought all contents insurance ruled out paying out for boards while 'in use'? It normally takes some 'creative claiming'.
