im getting a little delam on the rails, but the people at the aviso shop tell me its not too much of a big deal since carbon fiber doesn't exerpience the rot that foam does. no dings yet...the only problem i have with mine is that wax goes on it really weird, it just smears around rather than making any sort of good bump

Two questions have come to my mind rewarding carbon fiber boards:

1) How do you repair dings or cracks specially if the local shapers around you arent used to fixing anything but regular poly boards?

2) Epoxy boards have this reputation of being ultra bouyant and to provide a stiff ride. How does the carbon fiber board feel while surfing?
And how does it compare strenght/bouyancy like to regular fiberglass boards?

Not trying to hijack this thread.

it doesn't sound like hijacking to me just plain question :P

1. They have a repair kit and a video on how to fix it.

2. in terms of performance
poly > other craps such as a firewire and etc(i know there are more) > carbon fiber > epoxy
if carbon fiber was really good why aren't the pros riding it for the tournament?
In terms of buoyancy
carbon fiber > epoxy > poly
carbon fiber is more buoyant but it still has some flex due to its hollow core.
In terms of strength
carbon fiber ≈ epoxy > poly

bleh I decided to go with carbon fiber because I just wanted a board that won't get dinged in the long run. I m not really into ripping and showing my surfing skill. more into enjoying the surf and enjoying the ocean for what it is.

My shaper made me a carbon board, wrapped around an EPS lightweight blank instead of hollow. Same stiffness, not quite as light, but uber light either way.

I like the stiffness of the board, feels like it shoots up or down the wave when I turn. Plus, at my weight. I tried a firewire an felt like I was sinking it every time I dug in the rail, this one doesn't.

It's my 3rd hand made epoxy, I dig them. I can use less board due to the float, so I am riding 6'3 and 6'5" shortboards at 200lbs, my friends are riding much bigger boards in fiberglass. For an old fat shortboarder it makes a huge difference

My two cents worth...
