the lift in the tail or the nose. bigger rocker for bigger waves normally

a board with less rocker will plane or glide faster, but will be more likely to dig the nose on late take offs or in critical reentry.
a board with lots of rocker will be slow on mushy waves and will work best in the pocket, or on steeper more critical waves

Rocker is a term that shapers often use to refer to certain characteristics that will affect how a surfboard would work:

A Rockered board will work better if the surfer listens to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pink Floyd and the sort. It will definetely make sharpier and edgier snaps and cutbacks, specially if the surfer has long hair and bangs his head while surfing.

It will definetely hndle diferent from a Hip Hopered board. Those kind of boards work better for all those who like Jay Z, and all that Gangsta xxxxx. Those boards flow better and i can take some really grooy lines after smoking "lotsa grass"

I wish i had known this before buying my rockered board.
I didnt know that it ddnt work for hardcore Menudo fans like me who listen to Britney Spears, Seal, Justin and Hanna Montana.
I bet that's the reason why my surfing sucks.
