Surfing Waves

Hello everyone I'm about to transfer out to another school I am currently going to NYU but I do not want to stay in NYC for Grad school because I've been here all my life and in the winter time I could hardly surf and I wake up sick everyday. I want to go to a school near a beach. UC Santa Barbara is already on my list. How about some on the east coast? I don't know cali that well so you are more than welcome to mention those thank you!

UCSD is pretty close to the beach, which is also a pretty good school.

wow nyu. i wish i went there. you could go to UH (hawaii) depending on your major, but its definetly a downgrade from NYU

Yea NYU is pretty much a blessing but anyone can do it since I did get in with my GED yea I have a whole inspirational story behind that lolol but anyway many schools that I want to go to are a "downgrade" wich has my parents shaking their heads lol but I may have made up my mind and thanks for that site PKBUM!

don't over look UC Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is all about surfing! Santa Barbara is, too! UCLA and USC are are about 20 minutes from some surf, but the aforementioned places are better. Someone said San Diego. Yes! One more: Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.

Simply by making plans like this while you are in Uni demonstrates you are far smarter than I was when at your age.

as much as i hate to say it (huge USC fan) UCLA is near the water.

Kind of depends on what you are going to grad school for. I agree with the San Diego suggestion, don't overlook USD...University of San Diego, a small private college. UC Irvine isn't too far from the ocean and has a pretty good reputation for several of its graduate programs. Cal Poly SLO is another great suggestion.

I go to uc irvine, and it takes 20 minute with newport bs traffic, which i think its pretty far. I already decided this school is not on my list for graduate school. I wouldn't recommend uci if you're a frequent surfer who like to get a surf after school, unless you decide to live near newport beach, which is pretty expensive.

I guess it depends on your perception of what far is. I currently commute about 20 miles each way to work, takes anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour. Live 11 miles from Huntington, but it takes at least half an hour to get there. But yeah, UCI wouldn't be tops on my list either... I did grad school in Orange (Chapman U, good if you want to go into education, don't know much about their other grad programs).

unc chapel hill is about 3-4 hours from the outer banks. unc wilmington is right down the road from wrightsville beach, i think. other than that, go to the left coast

I was not going to mention UNCW. Great school Wrightsville Beach is 5 miles away. I was not going to mention it because every fall we get a flood of newbies that go to UNCW. No manners in the water and no skill.

UCSB is another. Although Halloween in IV isn't what it used to be.

UCSB doesnt get xxxxx for waves...come to Cal Poly! or LMU, USC, UCLA, UCSD, Santa Cruz
