Surfing Weaknesses

Hey guys, I'm doing a DT project for A level designing and making a terrestrial-based surfing training aid for when you're a little low on cash or there's no swell to be seen!
First i've got to check out my potential users - you guys - and what they'd want a surf training aid to do.
So my question to you is what is your biggest weakness when surfing that you'd like to improve on?
(Please feel free to add any others I may not have thought of)
Thanks

I would have to say that most of these will probably depend on the level of your students. Beginners will want to have some physical endurance, then learning to paddle, going for pop-up, balance and then control. I've passed physical endurance (gained by doing constant exercise), paddling (mostly from the physical endurance, popping-up (practice), balance (it just is in me :p) and control is what I am focusing on now to start making turns and what not.

can you strengthen my failing knees???
I think an endurance trainer for the paddle is probably the best...as paddling is where you see most beginners needing the first help.

It's all about the paddle, if ya can't then your done where you stand!! Er um lay. Gotta paddle to get out and gotta paddle for the wave first before all else can be done,,period. The rest comes in time and with practice practice practice.

Lack of endurance with paddling, afer the first hour i get spaghetti arms, so something to improve strength and endurance would be good and generally being a bit of a wuss holds me back somtimes but i dont think theres anything you can make to help with that!

Haha I think it's really my lack of patience while surfing. I surf MUCH better when I'm with other people, because I will wait because I will share waves. By myself, every wave is open so I'll try to take all of them. I know exactly what I'm doing wrong, I just can't fix it!

Duckdiving and handling crowds. The first one is self-explanatory, the second is mostly mental, I think. Whenever the crowd gets too big, my wave count just goes down to almost zero, even though other people will be catchinh wave after wave. I just mind the bloody rules too much so I always get outsmarted by some guy who positions himself better than me.

paddling for me. i went out for about 2 hours the other day, and was okay, really sore afterwards. the last half hour or so, it was just a struggle to paddle around. i couldn't get enough power behind my strokes to get me into waves. but i also hadn't been surfing in about a week because conditions have blown nuts lately. what i've found is just going out as much as possible and core muscle workouts help the most for my paddling strength

Paddling.
I'm OK if I've been in 3-4 times a week for a few weeks but 1st time in after a while and I'm buggered pretty quick.
I dont duckdive so thats not an issue, just plough straight through on the longboard..

Or not...

Yes definitely paddling. But have determined to use some weights at home to build up my shoulders. triceps and lats.

^ Yup the fear of big waves will always screw me over. Nothing like hesitating for a second and watch yourself going over.
