Surfing Waves

I know what most of you will say but I thought of asking it anyways, as a possibility.

I have two boards, a like new Dragonfly 7'6" and a used Flyer 6'6". Personally I started loving my Flyer 6'6" and is pretty usable on many conditions, including 2+ days. I was thinking if I should sell both and buy me a new Flyer 6'6" as the one I have right now is pretty yellow and has a lot of pressure dings (not actual dings but the board has those pressure things all around and feel kinda uncomfortable sometimes).

If so, how much could I sell each for?

Never, ever, get rid of a magic board.

Unless its a pop-out, all boards are unique. And if this one works for you, then why buy a replacement?
Get a quiver, not a stack of similar boards.

yeah, if you're gonna get a new board, get maybe a smaller one to push you a bit more. or something completely different just to try new things out.

few dings isn't necessarily a bad thing, if like me, your surfing is a bit sketchy.
Particularly if they're around the nose where people can see em when you're waiting for a wave. you'd be surprised how much extra space people give you in a line up.
was thinkin of gettin a few L-plates to stick on my board for bigger days!

I wear my dings like flags of honor........10' board and dings tip to tail top and bottom, no leash.....I can clear 100yd space on either side.

The thing is, I don't really like using or use my big board anymore and the current Flyer I have is kinda old, it's pretty yellow (bought it used) and it has some quiet noticeable pressure holes all around it, on the side actually there is quiet a big one. I didn't really notice all these when I bought it but I did once I started checking it more closely. I am not looking into having to equal boards, my idea is to sell both of these, and buy a new flyer so it's like new, or maybe go for a flyer 2? smaller dimensions, maybe push myself a little more? I have been surfing for a month and I can stand up and ride waves with my flyer, sometimes I don't get to turn to the wave but I can ride them anyways

You have a long way to go before you need to think about a new board.

Well, back to the point. I am not really looking to change board type, just to sell my non-use longboard and my ugly ass used board and get a new one of the same type and dims that my past ugly used board. Am I making any sense?

Why are you asking the question then?
Everyone has said you dont need to or shouldnt, and you want people to agree that you should.

So go ahead, buy a new board.

I feel misunderstood sometimes.

think acetone or turps will take the yellow off (not 100% here friend did it recently and his board looks nearly new except a few dings... someone please correct me here if it'll damage his board).

just another option... why don't you hang on to the board that's serving you well, until you are a bit better. start saving now, and when you get there go to a reputable shaper and get a real peach of a board made. maybe sell the longboard.

really recommend keeping the one you like tho. always good to have a spare. especially an old one that you don't mind getting a few dings on if you're going out somewhere a bit sketchy!

NO NO NO you don't just sell your shizz off to snag anouther stick, keep what you have(who cares what it looks like,does it work?) build you quiver of more and diferent boards!!! You have a good start now and they work for you. What happens when 1 board gets the (ding of a lifetime) and is out of the picture for awhile??? what are you gonna use??? Plus you have no reason why you can't invite somebody to go with you that dosen't have a board and let em use your fugly lookin flyer while you sit atop your new board.

Good opinions. I might as well simply sell the longboard and get another shortboard just to keep trying and making changes and just having fun!

if your flyer's in such bad shape then it won't be worth hardly anything so you may as well hold on to it!
two of my boards are absolutely worn out but no way will i ever get rid of them, think of all the memories.......every ding tells a story

haha I've yet to hear this much positive reps for dings.. Im starting to feel better about my hand-me-down thrashed boards.. hah. No wonder nobody ever gets within speaking distance of me. I always thought people were just letting me have the waves.

I vote you keep the 6'6 that you enjoy. And pick up another one in different size. Always want to hang on to that "old faithful" board..

I fell in love with a flyer that I was borrowing.. I wish I could've taken that board home with me..

If ‘old yella is giving you a surf, keep at it untill you honestly and knowledgeably know “I really can’t do that on this board”, then it’s time to get new a custom board built for you.

AND – when you do come down in size a little – ‘old yella will be faithfully waiting to please you once more in the less than ideal surf that the new board would demand.

Selling the one you don’t use is a good idea – I’ve been lucky – I haven’t needed to sell any of my boards on – they all worked for me!

good point. ive realised this summer ive had a lot of friends come and visit from all over the country and its cool ive had plenty of boards to lend. will be very reluctant to sell off any of my quiver now! its just too convenient. was thinking of selling my minimal beforehand, but nahhhh shes a keeper! a quiver is like a guitar collection: each one unique and sentimental and useful for different occasions. you wouldnt sell you're babies now, would you?

you dont need to sell your boards or get a new one. stick with the flyer you have if you like it. surf it until its broken or you feel you need a more high performance board then go see a shaper. no need for off the rack ci boards unless all you want to do is look cool. do you just want to look cool?
