I just started getting good rides, and now I'm leaving the ocean for work/family reasons

It will be 6 hours away. I will miss regular surfing, but will still make monthly trips.

I just did the same thing - first time in my life I've lived away from the ocean, and been surfing for 24 years - you'll cope if it's what you have to do.
Just do the journey and enjoy it while you can.

That sucks man. Hopefully you can find something else that will help you fill up that emptiness of surfing.

same here feels like the ocean is really far away. i hope for those day when i live near the beach, and just wear my wetsuit and run to the shore with my board.

Sorry dude. I just did the same thing. I was an hour and a half or three, now I'm 6 to 7 and a half hours.
It blows. Just find something that gives you the same feeling.

I feel your pain! I was born in the midlands and as such never really got exposed to surfing until I went on holiday to Newquay and pushed my parents into letting me try it (my parents are the devout, conservative religious type) and I got hooked then. Ever since then I've had to travel a minimum of 1 1/2 hours to get somewhere there is surf. I suppose I've never considered moving to the sea because my work is up here but I'd love to be a stones throw to a beach with surf.
