Sharks are pissing me off

Postby LOLRuss » Wed Aug 27, 2008 3:51 am

We saw two blacktip spinners doing their jump spin thing, lots of baitfish jumping all around us the whole time we were out and a manatee yesterday. Then today I saw three blacktip spinners jumping farther out, and bait fish were going crazy all over. That makes me nervous.

Finally, two bait fish landed on my back after I missed a wave. I screamed and turned my head and saw one flop into the water after bonking off my head. I was freaked out and got a wave to shore.

Sharks piss me off and fish need to stay off my back.

Yes they were, but I didn't SEE them until recently. Last two days its been super super sharky.

And... I don't see them IN the water. We have about 3" of visibility right now. They JUMP! That is how they feed. They go real fast up and through a bait ball and eat anything that gets in their mouth. Last week a three footer jumped like 6 feet away from me.

I know, but it was a better relationship when we ignored each other.

mate that sounds hideous! i would of done the same and got out the water immediately

the only close encounters ive had are with seals and dolphins :) we get sharks round here, but only basking sharks - they are big, but completely harmless creatures. wouldnt know what to do with myself if i had quick and agressive predators jumping around me! would be so distracting

We were around new smyrna weekend before last and had bait fish jumping around us all day which means there usually gettin away from something then i had a manatee float up 3 feet from me freaked me out for a second. then something else quick moving was underneath me so i caught the next wave in. Hopefully no encounters this comming weekend if I make it out.

If you live on the US east coast you are probably always swimming with sharks. It is the one you don't see that gets you.

dude, if you get bit by a shark play the lottery. i got bumped last year, kind of freaked me out to say the least. don't know if it was a shark or not, but it was a solid thud into my leg. i paddled the fastest i've ever paddled before. i've seen a bunch this summer. a big pod of dolphins popped up the other day right in the lineup, that was pretty cool

Plenty of them down in the central FL coast.

I surf at the river mouth but we don't get as much sightings as in Daytona/Smyrna... probably because we have a ton of ship (Navy) traffic out of the river

Ohh yea and about 3weeks ago i saw a dolphin, so i thought, But later i was talking to a friend and realized it was a baby killer whale no lie.
My friend told dophins arnt black and dont have white spots. i described it as shamoo.... SO peeps that hit up GOLDEN WEST in cali near huntington WATCH OUT :!:
