If it was an self advertising / promotion post with a url it was probably removed by a moderator.

Oh right, I guess that may have been the problem?

So does anyone on this board bet on surfing at all?

I'm a small time better myself, do it more for fun than anything, it definitely adds a bit more interest into checking the latest ASP results.

I'm only a small time gambler myself. I first started at the beginning of the 2006 ASP season and deposited $20 into my online account, at the time I told myself that once the $20 was gone I would quit.

Well I'm still going on the same $20 and I generally only bet $1 at a time. I don't think I'm particularly good at, but I am a passionate fan of pro surfing, so I guess that helps. I've found it to be a lot of fun and a sure have wasted a heap of time online!

I have my own forum related to betting on surfing which I posted here, but my thread got deleted, so I won't do it again, but if you look at my location you'll see the site url.

Does anyone here play fantasy surfer?

Gambling for me would be football. I don't see why betting on surfing is too wise, since slater will always be that golden horse as long as he competes

You can place bets on the result of every heat of the event, so that means there are usually 57 heats that don't even have Slater surfing in them.

On every heat? Never thought of it that way. I don't know, this business is odd. It's like betting on golf  .

Yeah it can be pretty fun. Before each round starts you can look through the draw and pick the guy you think will win each heat. It helps if you have an idea of what the surf is going to be like that day.

Surfing is so different to other sports, because the playing field is constantly changing it is far more likely for a lower seeded surfer to beat a higher seeded guy, than say in tennis or golf etc. As the lower seeded could easily catch the 2 best waves that come through in the heat and beat the higher seeded guy.

So I often back the lower seed if I think he's in with a chance.

Picking the event winner is a tough one though, I usually always lose money on trying to pick the winner, it's too hard, there's not much point in betting on Slater to win as his odds are too low and then it could be one 15 other guys capable of winning.

Yep you would have made some money alright, unfortunately it would be bugger all though as both those guys will be paying some slim odds through the early rounds. lol

I've been trying to bet on surfing online but can't seem to find a website that will allow me to. I went to centrebet but it won't allow me to register as I am in the States. Ramboestrada, what is the site you go to?

Yeah there's a bunch of us on Fantasy Surfer, we're in 'Surfing Waves' clubhouse codeword='membersonly'.
I reckon betting on surfing might be fun so might give it a shot. How do you pay/get paid? Paypal?

I suppose it depends on how the odds are calculated which may open a few opertunities up.
For instance if you look at Danny Wills' stats on Fantasy Surfer he's not doing so well but that is due to a injury rather than poor surfing so now he's back he's cheaper than his ability suggests he should be.
