Making good use of the few waves we seem to get here is a must.
But can u spend too long in the water?
I am wondering this after pulling a muscle after surfing too hard and maybe too long (1 hour 30)
bare in mind i'm only 15 xD

nah 1 n a half hours isnt too long for a session. 2 hours is about the norm for me but i have had sessions as long as 4 hours plus. pulling muscles happens and is usually a result of not warming up properly rather than surfing for too long.

depends on the conditions and weather.
last session was 2-3ft clean with a long period and barely any paddle out in the sun! stayed in for 4 hours from dawn and again in the evening. was on holiday though.

Depends on waves, temp, fitness etc, 30-40min if its cold & bigger, 3-4 hours if its a nice size on a sunny day.
Usualy 1:30-2hours tho

3 hours and I start to get a little tired and thirsty ... would love to be able to just run out the door and jump into the water but I need to drive to get to the beach. Not too far but far enough.

Today I paddled out, caught one wave and had a really good ride, came in. The other day I was in the water for 2 x 3 hour sessions in one day. It varies. If I'm in a hurry and need to work, an hour and a half.

Looks like I can push myself harder then, the thing that tends to get me out is when my toes & fingers are really numb

had 2 x 4 hour sessions one day about a month ago.... nicest it had been for a long time... next day was glad i did as the swell had dropped loads.
if its nice out i make the most of it because ya never know when it'll be that good again.
normally only last about 2 hours tho... very rarely less.
what muscle you pull... bad one?
scarborough's dead right tho... really need to warm up and stretch properly, you can get away with it a bit when you're younger but you're getting on a bit and may have to start looking after yourself a bit better!!!

I can remember a few sessions where the waves were so big, and so much current, surfing 3 waves took 3 hours. Paddle out, catch a 200yrd reeler, scratch on to the rocks at the bottom of the point......walk all the way to the top of the point and repeat. 10 waves...I was knacked after 3...love those days.

I like to extend our sessions, but it usually depends on where, and when we do the deed. Somtimes a quickie fits the order but long sessions are far more fulfilling.

yeah but when its DOH, I sometimes piss myself thinking that I might die from drowning, 1 hour and I m out in those kind of situation.

I always stay out as long as possible.. either coming in because I'm too tired to paddle any further, or because I'm running out of time (to get to work) or light (sunset). Typically it's for around 1-2hrs.

Was in today for 4 hours, woulda stayed in if I hadn't had to get back to do some stuff here. I stay in as long as possible, usually I'll only get out if I get caught inside and I'm too knackered to paddle out again.
