I guess it is a bit of a cliche, but I was always told by mum, that sea water is good for me?
Is she on acid?
or is this true?
OR BOTH

Both.
I dunno, but it feels like its good for me. Maybe thats because if I take the time to go in it, I'm taking care of myself.

seriously, it is good for you. It's good for your skin and it's good for the inside of your nose, sinuses, trachea and even lungs. Most Hawaiians are in the ocean nearly all the time. The incidence of cold and flu is low among them. With me and my buddies, we see the same thing. And many times before I was surfing, I'd go snorkeling and sponge boarding for days in a row to defeat sinus infections.
In addition, who doesn't feel better when they come out of the sea? Fish not included.

C'mon, drowning. A little bit won't hurt ya. Think of it as, "snake bite."

I feel like it's good for keeping your muscles from getting stiff. I play beach volleyball and during tournaments, my partner and I started jumping in the ocean for 15 minutes while we waited for playoffs (usually an hour of sitting). We did it just because we love to play in the waves and it's hot, but we noticed that our muscles didn't get stiff like they do if we just sit around waiting. Might just be that we're keeping active, but I think it's the salt. After all, you're supposed to put Epsom Salt in bath water if you have sore muscles. It draws out the lactic acid that can build up after a long work out.

All I know is that last summer, my family visited Siesta Key, FL. The hotel we stayed at had a salt water swimming pool. My 68 year old mother in law suffers from really bad hip and ankle problems and can barely walk around most of the time. By the end of the week, after lounging in the pool for at least 1 hr. each day, she was walking with little pain and said she felt better than she has in 5-10 years. Perhaps its Ponce De Leon's "fountain of youth" water from Florida or perhaps its just standard salt water. Regardless of the legend, the salt water definetly helped my mother in law with pains and joint issues.
Hmm

Awesome for curing poison ivy rashes! Drys it right up to scabs in 1-2 days. Normally would take a week or longer without spending time in salt water.
