Bought a new board. Question.

I found a board for $150 on craigslist.com and went out to meet the guy, it was a good size (I think) so i purchased the thing. There is a 4-5 inch yellow spot on the right rail near the nose. This is my first board purchase, so I was thinking, it's used, whatever. Is this something I need to worry about. I can see the foam inside the fiberglass is a bit caved in, the guy said it was no big deal bit the longer I stare at it the longer I say "What the fleshin' did I buy!"
I weigh 160, the board is 6'10" kind of gun shaped. I can't ride it this weekend much, and I'm itching my skin off because I think I made a bad purchase. Do you think the board will float me / will I have much trouble using it. Yes I am pretty new to surfing.
Also, the bottom has a few slight indentions in it.

Get it fixed and don't put that thing in the water.

The pressures on the bottom of the board are probably okay. If the ding on the nose is not patched up properly and water can seep into the foam, it's a problem. If it's an ugly ding repair but waterproof it's just a matter of aesthetics. $150 is pretty cheap for a surfboard since new shortboards run around $500 from shops.

Get it fixed up, but in general it doesn't sound like a problem. If you're planning on taking surfing seriously, you may want to also learn how to repair boards yourself--the skill will come in handy!

Too true. I have never been to a ding guy and by my calculations i have saved a lot of $$$$$ and to be honest my repairs are just as good. Why spend $80+ on something you could just as easily do yourself
However if you not up to the task then take it to proper ding guy
