Are they protected in Oz?

I really, really want to shoot racoons and possums that get into my garbage every single time I leave it out and spread it all over. But I live in a nice little neighborhood and I think they'd object to a firearm going off. Even if it was just a .22 mag with rodent shot in it.

Plus I'd probably feel terrible and cry after. But maybe the rodent shot would just sting if I kept the range up a bit?

IMO it takes at least a couple of .22mags to get a possum to realise it's dead. Shotgun is much more effective.

They're great fun to shoot. One of my mates sits in his hot tub with a .22 and a spot light, picks them off out of the trees in his garden.

They tried the beer but didnt seem to like it

But they really liked noodles, vegetable chilli and peppers. Greedy buggers.
