I starting to surf around 56 street at newport beach quite frequently everyweek. I go on surfline to see the forecast but I have no clue on what direction of wind or tide levels or surf heights is good for that area.

Please advise! Thanks in advance!

The best swells are usually the combo break... when the sw and nw meets together. Best tide to go around is low to mid.

Instead of going to surfline, go to wavewatch.com you can see the cams and check the swell on the orange county forecast.
Or
Go to this blog, http://socalforecast.blogspot.com/ He will give you forecast on wind, size and everything! I read that site religiously :P
