I've just booked a couple lessons at San Diego Surfing Academy for my holiday in San Diego in 2 weeks time after viewing their web site.

I then read a really bad review that I found online. It may just be the usual one off but I am hoping that someone here has experience with or knowledge of them that will reassure me.

You will be fine, most if not all the schools teach the same thing to beginners. Enjoy bro :D

Thanks for your reply.. This was not relating to their teaching techniques it was more saying that there was a blatant disregard to safety. Putting beginners lives at risk.

Just make sure you can swim, and you will be fine. :)

I think it may be some sort of state of CA requirement (if not, a San Diego County requirement) that surf instructors need to be certified in First Aid, CPR and lifesaving. I would stick with a school that keeps with a student to instructor ratio of not more than 6 to 1.

Thanks Guys... Its one to one both days so i'm sure it will be fine.. Am really looking forward to it.

I'm going to Hawaii for a week the day after my second lesson so hopfully will get some surfing in there too. :D

I think i'll have another lesson there maybe with a group as by that time i shouldn't need so much help.. I hope.
