Has anyone ever heard of a movie that’s showing now called step into liquid? It’s Kind of like a surfing docco. But It’s like heaps good. I really loved it. I saw it last night.
I reckon it could make just about anyone crazy for surfing.
" Surfing.. It's not a part of this world. You are stepping into liquid ... and it feels good."
Ooooh I miss surfing:-( I'm not allowed 2 surf untill mid febuary as I broke my foot in december and now I have to give it time 2 'heal'
... I'm stuck being an eskylidder.....

If I am not mistaken this is the movie that has been made by the makers of Endless Summer - I have not seen it myself but have heard good things.
Anyone else seen it?

Was Jack Johnson somehow involved in the movie?
Whether he was/wasn't,..that guy is a
ledge!! Ex-pro surfer, and now a musician...can't ask for more than that ey?!

I saw it a month ago - absolute shite!
No not really. It's made by the Son of Bruce Brown who made Endless Summer. It's virtually the same style - narration over footage with a few different segments on various types of surfing.
It's great to see any surfing on the big screen, though I'd prefer to see a jack McCoy or whatever on the big screen any day because Dana Brown has way too many interview close ups when he could be showing surf footage.
Also his segment on women is insulting and there's a bit too much on tow-in surfing which we've all seen before.
The other thing is it's a very "american" view of the surfing world, there are no other nationalities represented really.

I have been trying to see the movie but it hasn't come out in the U.S. yet. I won't agrue with your opinion but how does the "american" view of surfing differ from others?

ill answer for him lol
the "american" (meaning central america, definately not hawaii) is a completely different view and lifestyle concerning surfing. one probable reason is american breaks are spaced out, long and slow. this is because the swell has time to build into a nice shape. most australian, hawaian, south america and indonesian breaks are completely opposite, with a few exceptions like Bells and Snapper in Oz, and J-Bay in SA. Most, however, are in the situation where the swell comes straight off the ocean, and bursts onto the shore or reef. this makes for broken, fast, suckier, many peaked and less spaced waves.
as in most things, (eg politics, current affairs, media etc) the "american view" is, well mainly, THEIR point of view, without any looks into other cultures. therefore, if u see an american film about surfing, and think thats how surfing is everywhere, u will be greatly mistaken when u travel around.

If you want to be naughty, use bit torrent. Take a look at torrentz.com I am sure that it will never make it to the big screens here in Japan.

Even from the trailer you can see that it is a very american view of surfing.
I think one thing that has come out in these forums is that surfing is different wherever you are.
Surfing in the ice cold water around the UK has very different connotations to surfing in Hawaii.
What the californians refer to as 'cold water' for example is probably quite different to what UK surfers would consider cold!
I still want to see the film though - will it ever be release on region 2 DVD? I doubt it!

But WHERE did you get it?!!! Can you get hold of it in the UK? Coz I've looked it up and the only place I seem to be able to find it is over the Internet so I think I'll have to do that, but even then it's all US sites! xx
