Why is it when someone does so well at something the media puts them down, ( Beckham) as an example.
Well done Kelly. He seems to be able to switch on at just the right moments.

It's funny, but after watching "Letting Go", and seeing him last season, I realized he didn't follow his own advice.

He even said in the film how he surfs his best when he does it just to have fun, and I agree that last year he was pushing himself to win.

I mean at Snapper, the guy rides the board backwards for 50 yards, in the FINAL of a major comp. It was amazing to watch, and he looked like he really enjoyed it himself.

And I respect Mick profoundly for his efforts, and I think he does it for the right reasons too, he's just been one-upped. I also don't think surfing to win is wrong. If guys on the WCT were all just there to surf and have fun, then it would be Freesurfing. The desire to win HAS to be there to really push the sport competitively.

Kelly Slater is just a freak of nature and everyone knows it :P

Haha I guess
But think of all the other professional athletes? NFL players would be playing patty cake if there wasn't competition :P
