I know there are some of ya'll on here....
I'm trying to get a trip out there this summer, like 2nd week in June. Just wondering what I should expect the surf to be like. I'm contemplating shaping a new board to take out with me (like a 6'6" thruster) but maybe I won't need it.
Thanks for any replies.

I would recomend a fish. Tends to be small for the most part during the summer. Sometimes we do get a freak swell so make sure you check the extended forcast before you come.
Check it out here....

Its funny but last june we actually had a little bump if memory serves me correctly. The only downside to june really is what we call "june gloom" it tends to be well gloomy
A fish is always a good board to have handy in san diego thats what im busy shaping. However i spent the whole of last summer interchanging between a 6'4 and a 6'8.
Junes a bit hit and miss with the surf but there is still a chance you will catch some swell i wouldnt bother from july-early september as its usually small and inconsistant.
Hope you catch some swell and if you do get down here maybe hit me up

If you live in OB isaluteyou then you only live down the street from me.
But I do think last june we got a 5-6' swell that came in. Pretty nice shape to it as well if I remember correctly.

I had a sweet, sweet B-day last year. Big party at San O! Got a gift cert from Clairemont Surf Shop for a new board.
June is usually not so big, but it's always fun.
Nice to see you on this forum CHarvey, hope to see you at San Elijo on Saturday.

Zonies is only a portion of what we get in MB.
Got a story I'll have to post of for all you locals a little later on.
Today was interesting when I went home for lunch...
