Bloody water

What is proper???? I cut the tips off my middle and index fingers while surfing the other day. Clearly not worthy of stitches, it was bleeding a lot. The surf was epic, and I did not want to go in.

As I was waiting for the next set, I held my injury high and with some pressure tried to stop the blood. It was way worse looking than it actually was. I caught another wave, and returned to my blood stopping position.

This was when some guy noticed my red blood all over my hands. He went ape shiz.."YOU NEED TO GET OUT @#%@* B4 you get someone attacked by a shark."

I was not sure, should I get out....but it is epic....

I just turned into a raving dick and told the guy if he was worried he was he one who should get out.

I live in so-cal....not a shark mecca.....I would have gone in straight away if I was in Nor-cal or at our local islands....but at my local beach break, I have trouble getting out for sharks. :D

the surf will always be epic on another day. better to get out of the water and tend to your wounds, not only to prevent becoming shark bait, but to prevent infection and blood loss. for karma's sake, not a good idea to be a dick to fellow surfers. these are the guys who might save you from drowning or death one day if you find yourself in trouble.

It looked worse with the water mixed in. There twasnt much blood. I turned dickish cuz he was like screaming when he said it to me. I been surfn more than 30 years and have many scars and several trips to the e-room to show for it. I do know when to go in.

On a way diffrent note, it just came to me, thinking bout blood & water.
Do the girls have to watch from the bleeding hut, when antie Flo comes to the line up?????????

maybe a good thread?????

hummm....

Am I the only one wondering how he managed to slice the tips off two fingers while surfing?

probably from the fins, usually just need to sand off the front side in case you surf over someone. I did get a rather deep cut on my right foot's big toe from the backside of the fins by accident once, so i sanded the backside as well... probably wouldnt worry too much about sharks if shark sightings are rare and not in the feeding or breeding season, i would rather worry about infections. Here in Australia is the feeding and breeding season for sharks, schools of fish populated along the coasts, and the water is really warm, so there has been sighting of around a dozen of white pointers swimming as close as 50m to the beach at my state.

recently some fishing guy was bitten by a shark on the leg that it was so deep that they had to cut the head of the shark off

I would have stayed in the water. I two have cut the tip of one of fingers with the skag, bled like a mo fo. Got a dent in my head from my skag that bled a bit when it happened. Never had anyone freak out about attracting sharks. I live in so cal as well. I think the guy was just being a poon.

Get out, and ask the lifeguards to patch it up, then go back. 10 mins at the most. By the way sharks can smell small amounts of blood from a long way off.

a shark is less likely to eat you if you bleed, because they have really good senses, so if you bleed, he will smell that you are not a fish, but a human, and sharks do not eat humans, just like we don't eat jelly fish (or atleast aren't supposed to, we also are not supposed to eat pork, shrimps and other stuff like that, it is not good for us, but it is ok to eat it once in a while, we just souldn't eat it, just like sugar.)
