Surfing for PE GCSE

Did anyone do this? Asked my teacher today and you can be asessed on almost any sport including surfing as long as you can be filmed doing it.

Pretty fun/easy way to get a qualification....

SURFING

Skill Area A Candidates will be assessed on their ability to carry out four short journeys over at least two different wave conditions. Candidates
should select from the following list of skill combinations to demonstrate the range of their ability over the four routes.

Preparing board
Paddling technique
Surfing prove
Surfing
Selecting and catching a wave
Balance/maintaining position on board
Launching and finishing
Recovering after a wipe-out.

Skill Area B Candidates will be assessed on their ability to select and apply a range of techniques to complete a planned journey. Their performance will be assessed in relation to the following criteria.

Analysis of problem/task/challenge
Knowledge of skills to overcome it/achieve it
Recognition of safety issues/procedures
Selection of equipment/skills/route/course
Adoption/adaptation of skills to complete challenge/course

lets face it surfingis not a common sport in the uk so the assessor wont really know much about it so should be pretty easy to get a good mark. i was tempted to do it when i was doing gcse pe but i swapped it for music. let us know how it goes if you decide to do surfing

By the magnitude of Uk surfers here.... I thought surfing was poular in uk like australia?

I talked to a guy last week that was on a high school surfing team in Southern California in the 1980's. I knew a guy a long time ago from Southern California that was on a high school motocross team. These are definitely cool things.

Yeh, i did gcse p.e, was goin to do surfing, but was told i had to take more of a well known sport like swimming or lifesaving.
