Stand Up Paddling

What does everybody think of it? Pictures like this scare me a bit - I wonder if it's about to become like goat boats, a way for people that can't surf to try to get some waves.

my husband walked by the computer, saw this photo, and said "whoa sh**! where is that at?!" LOL. in his words, "it's fun but i hope everyone doesn't start doing it."
to be honest, most of the standup paddle guys at my break sit so far out that they aren't really an issue where i'm sitting. i get more frustrated with the longboarders who are sitting right outside from me.

Laid Hamilton turned up at a Devon break I surf last May. He was stand up paddling in juts board shorts...the water was fricking cold...i guess he is just hard as nails!

to be fare it must take a lot of skill to stand on a board when your paddleing it longboarding sounds easier to me

I like the physical part of surfing though, so I'll stick to the old-fashioned style of surfing

i wonder how stand up paddler paddle out? Don't they get pushed by the white waters? duck or turtle roll is not available!

i couldn't believe how popular it was in oahu. i've even seen someone paddle surfing here in BRIGHTON
It doesn't make sense to me, but then I've never tried it...

well, i don't think paddle boarding is quite as cool as longboarding.
and i personally don't think you can compare longboarding to shortboarding. just cause they are different vibes.
i don't understand why so many surfers rag on paddle boarding. ive never done it, but it certainly looks peaceful.

A guy bailed one yesterday right in front of me - didn't look like so much fun in 4 - 5 foot waves, he was getting nailed trying to paddle the thing out.

I was up at the northern beaches today, and Curl Curl was packed with surfboards, goatboats, kneeboards, and stand ups... everyone got what they wanted from Santa...
