surf beaches near penzance/helston

Postby outonawave » Wed Dec 05, 2007 9:18 am

hi,

it appears i`m going to find myself down near helston this weekend - (got to pick some furniture up for our house!)

i haven`t been surfing in a few months because of a back problem, but fancy giving it a go while we`re there.

where`s a good beach that might be sheltered from the strong winds forecast round this area? my girlfriend might even come in so places that are suitable for beginners would be good too ;-)

cheers,
mike

Not this weekend sunshine :?
Gonna be maxed out almost everywhere, and the places where it might be working (few and far between) aint suitable for learners.

Take a camera, take a thermos flask, dont take a surfboard.

i was just hoping - its been sooo long!! and it seemed such a shame to go all that way without getting in the water.

i`ve just got into photography so will probably take the camera down with me anyway.

Likely to be hideously dangerous in the water

Its not even going to be suitable for a session in the slop in waist high water - its gonna be stormy and scary.

27 degrees air, 22 degrees water... a small swell forecast for the weekend... you should be here, mate

yeah yeah yeah- rub it in! wish i was - went to manly about 4 years ago for a bit - was in the sea everyday but never got surfing lessons - no idea why!

loved it out there and thought about moving out there - the thought of living there and then getting the boat over to sydney to go to work everyday was nice.

but hey ho - just bought a new 5-3 wetsuit the other week - nothing like feeling that bit of icy water go down your back before it warms up!
