Surfing Waves

been hearing rumours about a phantom wave coming out of the flat sea at Donabate, people claiming its from the ferry to holyhead. anyone else heard of ferry waves?

Over one long flat summer in Shoreham, I scoped out the container ships going out of the harbour, figuring that there could be a wave off the wake as it went over the rocks inside the harbour wall.

There wasn't - not enough grunt in the wave that the wake produced, it just washed over the rocks. Ferries are a bit bigger, so maybe, but I would say it's doubtful.

Yep that same ferry arriving into hollyhead would make a wave along port Satwan.....







Also.. the ferry coming into Belfast makes a wave...

Does that ferry still have an outside lift?

I was on it's maiden voyage in 2001 or there abouts......ah memories....
