ive started shortboarding and its been great. went surfing today and it was low tide, didn't realize how low, and when i duck dove under a small wave i coulda probably gone over the nose of my board hit the beach bottom. i knew nothing happened to my nose, but it just got me thinking how its possible people could break there nose that way, and probably many other ways. so i'm wondering if anyones ever broken the nose of their board and if so how?

my friend let one of his friends use one of his boards a few weeks back when we went out, he pearled it and i guess it hit the ground. it took off about an inch from the nose and delaminated the bottom of the board about 10 inches down.

Yep!
I've got a lovely nose shaped ding in the bottom of one of my boards for my pleasure too!
In hindsight it was a good thing. I was properly kooking it up that session before that happened, I surfed much better afterwards!!

What a wake up call!

i broke my nose clean off once at a beach break (where waves as big as 7 foot face smash right onto shore)

Heh, I haven't broken any board noses, but I've repaired about 4... It's not a particularly hard repair (compared to fins/fin boxes) but it's difficult to make look good... especially if you delaminate part of your board.
got my nose broken by a tennis racket though...

I never have personally, but the baggage handlers at either manchester or lisbon airport managed to snap the nose clean off for me.
I was pretty annoyed at the time but the other day I got a cheque from the baggage company for £370
