Where is the best place to surf in the UK

i am planning a trip next summer maybe around the whole of the UK to find the best surf spot. It would be nice to have some people ther e- hosues and shops but you cant have it all. I have heard the Rep.Ireland is good, is it? and where else should i lookt at going to?
