HELP..HOW DO I GET THE MRS APPROVAL TO GO ON A SURF CHARTER?

Howdy all.
I reside in Australia and have been surfing nearly 20years.
Im absolutely stingin' to go on a surf charter! I want to hit the Maldives or Sumatra.
Ive hinted and left a couple of skippers business cards laying around, but when I brought the topic up she's just not keen. "Oh what about the mortgage" "what about your business" what about blah blah blah... I even thought about Fiji and just take her and the kids (3 boys - 1 surfs!), but she still isnt too keen.
OK Anyone got any "make her say yes" tips?

I finished with my last girlfriend of 8 years for not wanting to go on surf trips.

Bit harsh, but you know it makes sense!!!

Teach her to surf! Alright she wont be good enough for the maldives but at least she will understand :D Otherwise invite a young female friend along for the trip, then i'm sure you wife will be much more obliging :D

I have always found locations that would interest the entire family. I set it up as a goal for the family. For example If the kids get a certain performace level at school or certain chores are done without being asked. I don't get to surf the entire time but I will ususually get a couple days in. The wife loves it because we are teaching the kids to strive for goals. She dosen't allways realize that that I plan the trips around surfing locations.

All our trips have to have a potential for surf.

My missus is very understanding though, didn't mind me meeting a certain young lady on our 10th anniversary.

Just book it, then tell her. If she goes off on you, change the subject to seeing if you can score a threesome with her best mate, she'll go off about that, and forget the surf trip. And you might get lucky with her mate.

Getting them hooked on it too is a partial solution.

Problem after that is when you get a chance for a surf and she doesnt. And vice versa!

MMMMMM... Surferdude has a good point.
So does DBB....

I think Ill push one of those all inclusive family packages on the Coral Coast, and just pack a couple of boards on the day...
Cloudbreak, Noumutu, Wilkes Pass, and Frig's here I come.... Hopfully.

get drunk, then book it on the net, ask for confirmation by email............. when email arrives say must have booked when i was drunk, but its all paid for, and it would be a shame to waste it!!
problem solved.
:D

My wife sometimes feels like my board is the 'other woman', Spend more time with it etc!
We normally 'compromise' on a holiday, however the grumpy 'never mind, guess the conditions will work again...someday' routine works pretty damn well! lol!

Always goes that way with my wife, she surfs, but she doesn't like it too heavy, so on the softer days, I look after the kids and she goes in, and when it gets a bit heavier, I get to have the fun.

Once I got her to paddle out near Hossegor, macking waves  I took off on a set, saw her beside me paddle into it, and bail at the bottom, getting the whole lot on her head, it was dead funny (for me).

hahaha! Classic! Do you get hear her screaming as she flies along the face if it's bigger than she's comfortable with, but she makes it? I love that!
