I was planning on going tomorrow but if I'm not going to be allowed in the water whilst it's on I better go somewhere else!

why not just hedge your bets and surf somewhere else. chances are you wont be able to get in the water while the comp is on.

I went and it was fine. It wasn't a very big thing, I probably wouldn't have even realised it was on if I hadn't read that before hand!
