well you are the only one to blame for not going. If you dont want to surf ankle slappers, then dont, suck it up and surf the bigger stuff. If not, then stop complaining....

If you dont like something, do something about it. If not, be quiet.....

I am absolutley sure that this sounds harsh, but I am just sick of people complaining about everything, just to complain.

My daughter who is your age also had this same fear. I worked with her and would get her comfortable in the smaller stuff and eventualy she became more confident. All of a ussden she starts paddeling out with me in waves that were 2 feet overhead and loving it. She is still leary about taking off on the first one but then does it and I have to drag her out of the water at the end of the session.

It takes time but you will get there. Just give it some time. :D

still scares the xxxxx out of me when i get caught inside on massive clean up sets. its not so bad when you have a wall of white water heading for you, its when your paddling up the face knowing your not going to make it over the top

I love surfing with my kids and do it a couple of times a week. I am sure you will feel more comfortable knowing someone is there for you if trouble came around.

I don't think there is any worse feeling than that.. especially when its about overhead at all.

I think it's even worse when you just make it over the wave, then it starts sucking you backwards over the falls, and there's nothing you can do about it.

HAHA oh that has happened to me.. it was one of my first times out at a big break... and it was middle of winter with about 8-10ft waves.. out with tons of friends from work, and they were out passed the break just sitting on their boards and I am hustling to paddle out (this beach is very rough in the breaker) and I thought I had gotten past the breaker and paddled up a wave.. thought I was safe to rest for a second.. and well... nope... sucked me back over and i got pounded into the water on my back.. I will never forget waving goodbye to my friends as i went backwards haha..

When it happens, you've just got to take it with a smile on your face.
