the last couple of tiems i've been out (went down rest last night, great session) I've come home to find the soles of my feet peeling. i think it's the wax. I'm using Famous wax, does anyone know of wax that is less irritable, mild wax if it were? lol. thanks

by coz
your feet are peeling from pruning up to much probably. it has happend to me. actually its happening to me right now. but if you want different wax then buy sticky bumps or mr. zogs sex wax. no joke that is the actual name.

yeah its actually cos the salt dries out your feet big time and also it would be to do with sunlight on the soles of your feet while your paddling. If it maybe to do with the wax, I use Mrs Palmers and it is dead good. You can 10 blocks for a tenner from extremepie.com

hmmm, you really think it's just the water? it's pretty extreme peeling, like i lost like 2 layers of skin from the bottom of my feet after i surfed for a weekend!! my feet aren't dry either.... :S

try "sex wax"

hi, i tend to use the brand "sex wax" my feet have not peeled using this wax and have remained normal.....This advice is from someone that used to suffer from exma and sensitive skin conditions. Allthough obviously i cannot guarantee it will work for you. so i have no responsibilities if it does not work for you.
Thanks, Callum.

Hey, I'm pretty sure the peeling is nothing to worry about and not anything to do with the wax. My feet peel like that every now and again. And also in like chunks of thick skin. Sounds gross I know. Haven't worked out exactly what causes it though. Probs a combination of skin softening in the water after hours and maybe the grinding sand acts like a pummy stone or something. I'm quite grateful when it happens. Think it's good to shed old, dead skin. Think of it as the sea doing you a favour. ;-)

If you've been out of it for a while (or wearing booties over winter) the skin has to adapt to being exposed agian..

Nothing to worry about it will sort its self out.

Yeah, mine happened when I was in jersey and surfing with no boots on for the first time so that would be correct. :) It's all good.

It might be from covering up your feet too much in shoes. Try trekking around bare foot for a few weeks or wearing chinese gumboots (thongs), you'll soon develop some nice hard callous soles.

Go for sex wax over sticky bumps anyway.

Sticky bumps my eye, your feet don't stick to that stuff at all

lol i am forever going bare foot everywhere anyway, i walk about town without shoes or socks all the time. Anyway, this week i used Mrs Palmers wax and i didn't have the problem at all, lol. strange i guess, but my feet just don't like 'Famous' wax.

Well, Mrs P's is the best stuff in my opinion. As i said in the last message, by 10 blox for a tenner on extreme pie. Hows the surf been with everyone this week anyways? The outlook aint looking too great for the foreseeable future unfortuately, so i think i may have to get a cheap ryan air ticket somewhere better!!! Biarritz twice in one summer maybe?!?! he he he! suggestions appreciated!!
