...surf without wax?
i know it's a silly question. but i have a friend, well, he was my spanish teacher in high school and he longboards without wax or deck pads.
, he had a board that had the wood finish look. i was thinking about it for a while because i thought that it was the bottom part of the board, but i didn't see the fin, so i just started asking questions.
so he says that he really surfs without wax, and that it's just a natural thing for him, and that it's been like that for a long time now.

what i found helps is waxing the underside and wearing my wetsuit inside out

funny.. i'm serious here.
i don't want to try it cause it seems silly, but he's rather good.
he surfs almost everyday and keeps a log of everything. like wave conditions, clouds, winds, animals in the water, etc.

May have something to do with the finish on the board. Is it rough? If it's glassed and slick I'd be amazed that he could keep his footing at all, salt water makes for a great lubricant when you're trying to surf...

its glassed.
i've seen a couple of his boards and they are clean. most of them look new.
and no he doesn't have suction cups on his feet.
