Large session while the winds held at the local boulder reef with a mate whos visiting. some heafty drops then the hail started again! Thankfully today will be the last of it and we're left with pretty good conditions for the rest of the week. bonus.

I had such a good session tonight :D

5pm... at work, fed up, needing to de-stress a bit... 6pm in the water at maroubra

Image

The waves were about 3ft (maybe I shoulda waited for a set before taking the photo...) and a bit lumpy, but a dry hair paddle out. Then the sunset lit the water up bright orange, then the wind died and it went glassy 8)

And I surfed on beautiful clean waves until it got too dark to see the sets. I had some of the best waves Ive ever had tonight. Stoked. :claps:

(Apologies to the chap who spent ages trying to catch a wave and when he finally did, I was directly in front of him trying to disentangle the leash from around my head... sorry about that)

Good shoulder to head session on the boulder reef today. winds held for the majority but then got just a little too strong and the sections begun to collapse. still a solid session

just to make it a bit worse for you:

monday at oxwich. pretty much firing on all cylinders but with a very strong offshore making it a bit tricky. got some nice rides. the very talented among the crowded lineup were absolutely flying.

today was pretty good if a bit windy at horton. bout 3-4 ft maybe less and v windy but some nice waves holding up. had an awesomre ride right in front of all the crew from the uni surf club. woot!

surferdude, it was flat here yet again! one of my mates phoned up from home to ask if i was going out today, said it was hitting 6ft+ at some of the breaks but the wind was too strong so didn't go out. i bet when i finish college a week tomorrow it will be flat!!

when you down 'till? i might be at the gower area in a week or so before i head off for a couple of months

Hi all,

Just got back from a great trip to Portugal. There for a week and scored some pretty much near perfect waves in the S.W (sagres area), then drove up to Arrifana area.
A bit hit an miss first thing in the morning then Tonel 'did it's thing' peaking at around 6-8ft one day looking as ferocious as ever!!!
Beliche was it's usual 'tubing self' although I was kept of the peak by the hordes of 'spongers'. S.W body boarders can be a pretty heavy local crew, about the only downside to the trip!
After driving around on the last couple of days we decidied to have a go at Tonel. Had the main peak to ourselves, 25c air temeperature and lots of hot naked women! :D
Got a few amazing rides, almost got in the tube. Towards the end of the session took a rather big air drop but landed and was stoked. Last ride of the day...I was getting a little too used to 'friendly Tonel' when it showed it's teeth. A larger set came through, paddled for one, took off and was 'speeding' down the line...speeding for me lol. All of a sudden forgot about the large earlier submerged rocks, hit them scraped my board from top to tail and smashed the centre fin clean off! Swam around in the impact zone for a couple of waves then made it back to the beach. My mate had been taken into a cave face further along the beach! We had a good laugh about it and watched some more shapely sunbathers lol! All's well that ends well!
Thoroughly recommend the area for anyone. There are some mellow rides to be had on the beachies, but look around and there are some class points and reefs. After surfing at Tonel I got a lot more confident, however don't get too cozy with it lol! Other than local body boarders an awesome destination! This was my 7th trip there, not all surf trips, but I've never been dissapointed and if you want 'suicide missions' head up towards 'Lisboa' you'll find supertubes etc. there...probably a load more body boarders too!
Will post some photos soon, hopefully got some water shots althought they will be on film.
Adios 8)

 good story

I like the 'smashed my board to bits, had a good laugh about it' attitude

Had a fairly mediocre session last night - icky mix of small groundswell and wind swell, 2-3ft maybe. Paddle out was easy in a rip, then after wiping out and getting stuck in the impact zone without a rip, paddling back out was far too much like hard work. Yes, it was a one wave session

8)

I'll post some photos tomorrow night, got so many I'll filter out the best ones. Also...some spots aren't that easy to get to when you're using a hired out Fiesta! May be better with a 4x4! We left the hire car in Faro car park with the keys in the ignition, maybe someone nicked it before they could check for 'chips' or a missing wing etc lol!
