A bodysurfing video showing how bodysurfing should be. I sometimes wonder when people tell me they bodysurf if that means they just ride whitewater in......Hmmm I wonder the same thing about surfing. This guy is typical of the better bodysurfers that I used to know from long ago. He is using the palm of his hand to plane and hold himself higher in the wave. I however did my own thing when I body surfed and have never seen anyone do what I used to do.

Came across this....SUPs in Uluwatu....look at the passage from 1:55-2:19, how he threads his way thru the traffic, then his less skilled counter part just after drops in on a surfer who then in his attempt to circumnavigate the SUP plows a paddler over...

whats with all the people paddling back out just next to the pocket? I mean, even if you wanted to avoid going under the white water, why not paddle way way wider?

Is this just one of those 'thats Bali for you' moments?

Honestly?

A lot of people don't really have a good grasp on etiquette or what is going on in the water....then there are those that don't care.....you see how it is in the video....no exaggerations.

This guy is a mile down from where he went in. First time surfing? or just putting on the news commentator ?

One of the few pro surfers I met, Booby Jones was filmed doing a maneuver where he fell backwards off the board but kept his feet on the board and pushed himself back up to his feet. This short clip doesn't show that but it does show how courageous he was in big waves. Sadly when I think of him all I can recall is that I briefly met him and he did that maneuver which I attempted to do numerous times but only succeded a couple times

Was watching this yesterday.....he does laybacks all over the video.....I really like his surfing. This is a good watch.

Maybe I'm old but that was fascinating - some famous names there. And made me very glad for the invention of leg ropes! Thanks for the link

They should do the same thing today - instread of 3 surfers for 30 min for 2 waves, do 10 surfers for 1 hr for 5 waves. Will keep things busy

back then you had 10 surfers who were all friends competing for money that was a token amount so not much hassling . Also the lack of leashes helps to keep the competition for waves down. Another interesting difference is that most of those waves would only be scored 1 or 2 points by todays standard
